The Human Resources Generalist delivers operational and practical Human Resource support to the Firm in a way that adds real value to the business. This includes effectively bringing people onboard and providing support through throughout the employee lifecycle, handling employee relations, managing benefits, reporting and analytics and participating in the design, development and deployment of learning and development initiatives. This role does not have direct reports nor direct responsibility for a budget; however, indirect influence is required in both areas. Personal leadership, accountability and initiative are required for success in this role. Communication skill, including awareness of who needs what information, along with the ability to convey this information, is also important.

Responsibilities

Onboarding and Employee Lifecycle Support

• Partners with Talent Acquisition to ensure that those who are new to the Firm are welcomed and set up for success.
• Oversees and facilitates completion of all new hire processing. Ensures requisite file and system access are setup and working.
• Provides support for new hire training. Establishes mechanisms for checking in and following up to ensure effective assimilation into the department and Firm.
• Manages process improvements, including ensuring that standard operating procedures exist for core people processes.
• Conducts periodic audits of core people processes to ensure that the Firm in in compliance with employment laws. Manages any issues that emerge as a result of audits, in partnership with the Human Resources Director.
• Leads the implementation of core people processes including annual performance reviews, goal setting, merit increases and development planning. Does so in a way that yields continuous improvement and fits with the culture of the Firm.

Employee Relations
• Manages employee issues to completion/resolution, escalating complex issues to Human Resources Director.
• Conducts investigations into matters requiring in-depth review, from end to end. Ensures that the necessary documentation is maintained. Facilitates the implementation of solutions.
• Periodically reviews issues looking for patterns and trends. Recommends Firm response, if warranted.
• Collaborate with Finance to guarantee timely error-free payroll processing and communicate payroll-related information to employees.

Benefits
• Initiates annual review of complete benefit package in partnership with Boyum Barenscheer’s benefits broker. Prepares requisite material for consideration of plan changes.
• Recommends and implements plan changes in partnership with Human Resources Director.
• Manages all benefit reporting requirements.
• Facilitates annual open enrollment meetings.
• Performs benefits administration to include employee enrollments and terminations, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and employee benefit education and communication.
• Primary point of contact for all employees, including those in remote office locations, for interpretation, response, and resolution of all employee benefits-related issues.
• Review for accuracy and process monthly insurance premium payments for all benefit plans and approve for timely payment.
• Initiate COBRA/HIPAA benefits continuation for all terminating Firm employees.

Analytics
• Maintains the Human Resources scorecard, ensuring that information is updated and distributed based on established cadence.
• Identifies trends in the data; interprets findings in reporting.
• Manages all required reporting and prepares monthly and quarterly reports.

Learning and Development
• Collaborates with Human Resources Director and Firm leaders to design, develop and deploy learning initiatives.
• Partners with Human Resource Director to create and manage project and communication plans for development initiatives.
• Integrates success metrics into reporting as needed.
• Oversees the learning management system and related CPE requirements for licensing. Ensures that people have what they need to meet licensing requirements.

Qualifications and Education

As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must believe in the core values of BB and be
driven by the firm vision. The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• A bachelor’s degree and three (3) years human resource experience
• Two (2) years’ experience in Benefit Administration
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; with an emphasis on Excel and Word
• Knowledge of employment-related laws (FMLA, FLSA, etc.)
• Work with client confidential information and ability to keep information confidential.
• Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments.
• Excellent customer service mindset
• Excellent written, proofreading, problem solving, and oral communication skills.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, and stoop.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 15-20 pounds.
