After 22 years at Boyum Barenscheer, Barb Sawdy is retiring, leaving behind a lasting impact on our firm, our clients, and the many colleagues who have had the opportunity to work alongside her.
Throughout her time at Boyum Barenscheer, Barb has become an invaluable part of the team and a trusted resource for clients and colleagues alike. She has developed into the firm’s go-to expert on complex sales tax matters, payroll, and accounting software issues. Her knowledge, experience, and willingness to help others have made her an important resource across the firm.
Barb has also played a significant role in our Business Advisory Services department, particularly in training and supporting accountants as they begin their careers. Her commitment to sharing her knowledge, answering questions, and helping others grow has made a difference in the professional development of many team members.
Her dedication to clients and the high standard of service she consistently provided were recognized when she received the Barb Sawdy Award for Superior Client Service. Having an award named in her honor speaks to the lasting example she has set and the importance of the values she brought to her work every day.
Beyond her professional contributions, Barb has helped make Boyum Barenscheer the close-knit, supportive team it is today. She has often described the firm as feeling like family, and that sense of connection is something she has helped foster throughout her time here.
As she looks forward to retirement, Barb will have more time to enjoy the things she loves outside of work, including quilting, scrapbooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with family. We hope this next chapter brings plenty of opportunities for new adventures, creative projects, and time with the people who matter most.
On behalf of the partner group and everyone at Boyum Barenscheer, thank you, Barb, for 22 years of dedication, expertise, friendship, and service. You have made a lasting difference at our firm, and while you will certainly be missed, the example you have set will remain part of our culture for years to come.
Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement, Barb! We wish you all the best in this exciting next chapter.
