Summary

The Tax Senior Manager serves as a key advisor, overseeing complex engagements and acting as the primary liaison between partners, clients, and staff. They apply deep technical expertise and industry knowledge to provide strategic guidance while ensuring compliance with evolving regulations. This role involves managing client relationships, driving business growth, and mentoring staff to foster professional development. Senior Managers also stay attuned to economic and legislative changes, leveraging insights to support clients and enhance firm capabilities.

Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Provides high-level strategic tax planning and advisory services, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance client value and mitigate risks.
  • Serves as a key relationship manager for top-tier clients, guiding them through sophisticated tax strategies and evolving regulatory landscapes.
  • Plays a critical role in firm growth by expanding service offerings, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and building high-impact client relationships.
  • Represents the firm as an industry thought leader, actively engaging in conferences, professional organizations, and networking events to enhance market presence.

Technical & Accounting Knowledge

  • Leads engagements involving complex tax structures, high-net-worth individuals, multi-entity businesses, and international tax matters.
  • Provides expert analysis and interpretation of advanced tax regulations, delivering strategic recommendations to clients and firm leadership.
  • Anticipates and evaluates the impact of legislative and regulatory changes, advising clients and internal teams on compliance and planning strategies.
  • Drives firm-wide initiatives related to tax policy, process improvements, and the integration of emerging tax technology solutions.

Engagement & Leadership

  • Oversees and refines engagement strategies, ensuring teams operate efficiently while maintaining high-quality service and adherence to budgets.
  • Mentors and develops senior-level staff and managers, fostering leadership skills and technical expertise to strengthen the firm’s talent pipeline.
  • Oversees multiple, complex client engagements, managing tax planning, compliance, and audit representation while ensuring seamless execution.
  • Establishes firmwide best practices for tax engagements, optimizing workflows and enhancing service delivery models.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to firm leadership, contributing insights on tax department growth, client acquisition, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Champions a culture of continuous learning by leading advanced training initiatives, fostering innovation, and encouraging knowledge-sharing across departments.

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • Active CPA licensure required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel and QuickBooks.
  • Requires at least seven (8) years of public accounting experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Physical Demands

  • Required to sit for long periods.
  • Extensive computer, keyboard, and mouse use.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Salary Range: $120,000 – $165,000

The stated salary range reflects the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final offers will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and location.
