Summary

The Tax Senior Accountant II is responsible for organizing and managing client tax data to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corp, and trust tax returns. This role actively participates in all phases of tax engagements, from planning and preparation to final review and client consultation. The Tax Senior Accountant II P strategic tax planning and compliance services for a diverse client base. Additionally, this position requires conducting in-depth tax research, identifying opportunities for tax savings and risk mitigation, and collaborating with other departments to deliver comprehensive financial solutions. Strong client relationship management and the ability to mentor junior staff are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a key advisor to clients, providing advanced tax guidance, addressing complex inquiries, and proactively identifying opportunities for strategic tax planning and optimization.
  • Oversees the preparation and in-depth review of business and personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance with evolving tax regulations, and adherence to firm and professional standards.
  • Strengthens client relationships by offering proactive tax strategies, anticipating client needs, and delivering value-added insights to support long-term financial success.
  • Manages multiple engagements, monitoring prescribed budgets and deadlines while identifying efficiencies to enhance workflow and ensure timely client deliverables.
  • Conducts research on intricate tax issues, interprets regulatory updates, and collaborates with internal teams to develop informed recommendations and innovative solutions.
  • Provides mentorship and technical training to Tax Senior Accountant I and Staff Accountants, ensuring consistent development in tax knowledge, compliance, and best practices.
  • Reviews and guides the work of junior team members, offering constructive feedback, coaching on complex tax matters, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Leads engagement planning discussions, identifying tax risks, optimization strategies, and process improvements that enhance both client outcomes and firm efficiency.
  • Maintains expertise in emerging tax laws, industry developments, and best practices, applying this knowledge to optimize tax strategies and improve client service.
  • Collaborates across departments, working closely with audit, advisory, and other teams to provide integrated financial solutions that align with client goals.

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in accounting or tax preparation.
  • Active CPA licensure required.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
  • A minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education is required each year.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; with an emphasis on Excel and QuickBooks; Tax and Accounting software.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Physical Demands

  • Required to sit for long periods.
  • Extensive computer, keyboard, and mouse use.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $115,000

The stated salary range reflects the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final offers will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and location.
